I would put a slide show together, but that is Tom's department. I just post individual pictures. He'll put it together later.
To answer some questions:
Thomas William Higgs, Jr. was born at 7:59pm on Wednesday, July 23, 2008.
He weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and 21 inches long, it surprised everyone.
We are calling him Liam (the second part of William).
We went to the hospital on Tuesday at 6pm for an induction. At about 10pm we left the waiting room and were taken to our labor and delivery room. I had already been having contractions and they were pretty close together but not very strong, I honestly couldn't even tell I was having any. They gave me cervidol and early that morning I went from 1-2cm to 6-7cm. I got an epidural at about 7am and everyone thought we'd have a baby by 9:30 or 10:00am. By 10:00 I was at 8cm and by 2:30 I was 8cm. So they started pitocin (but not enough to do anything. By 4:30pm I'd had it, I called in my nurse and basically told her to get him out, I didn't care how. The nurses had changed and my new nurse had been told that I was fine and was shocked by my state of mind when she came in. She upped my pitocin got me an epidural boost, made me get on my right side (something I had wanted to do for hours, but the other nurses said no because Liam's heart rate dropped every time I switched). This nurse gave me oxygen and everything was fine. By 6:00pm I was at 9cm, they turned off my epidural so that I could push, and at 7:15 I was fully dilated and by 8:00 we were done.
Liam is healthy and calm. He's the sweetest little boy. And is doing so great. I'm still recovering, I can walk, without help almost all of the time, and I can stand up and sit down by myself, and I can almost get in and out of bed without grimacing. I don't know what I would do if Tom and my mom weren't here to take care of me and the baby. We love them so much and owe them big time! I hope that wasn't too much information.

Linds he is so adorable. i can't believe all that hair! I'm glad you are recovering well. Talk to you soon!
I love that top picture. Congrats. It was fun to see your parents on the 24th. I could tell they were so excited to get out and see their new grandson. Happy recovery!
Thanks for the story! Sounds like it was a long process, but glad everyone is healthy. Congrats, again! Now Liam and my Jack share a birthday, and I think we had the same due date too.
Enjoy parenthood. It's awesome.
He is the cutest baby!
He is seriously a perfect, beautiful baby! You guys will be such awesome parents! I feel so bad that it took so long Lindsey! That's gotta be the worste to just sit around in pain and wait all night and all day for the most exciting thing ever! Especially when the event will finally put you out of your misery and on to recovery. You did good though! Congratulations you guys!
Love ya! -G
Hi! I just have to say I love his hair! I hope that you are making all the adustments well... and you better be taking the scary elevator! Miss you!
So cute! He has so much hair. I'm sorry that labor and delivery was no fun at all. Also, from what I heard from your mom the next few days weren't so hot either. Hopefully all is well now. Congrats to the both of you. You'll be wonderful parents!
Linds - this is kind of a comment on your whole blog - cause I haven't checked them for so long. Liam is beautiful! And such a head of hair. I just can't believe how you had an 81/2 lb. baby! You looked even bigger than "beach balls and boulders" and I know how that felt. We are all so excited to get to see you soon. I'm glad you're having some fun in Florida before you leave. It is beautiful. Get feeling better. Love - Tomi
Lindsey,
What a cute little guy -- and so much hair! We missed you at our 24th gathering. We had a larger group than we have had in the past with everyone moving away. It was nice to have some family back home again. It's too bad all of these new babies aren't going to be able to get to know each other as well as they could if they lived by each other. They could be great buddies!
Take Care of you!!
Love, Aunt Shauna
He's got so much hair!!!! Congratulations you guys! There's nothing like having a little guy around the house :)
I didn't see what you wrote when you were writing it. I think you were very controlled--could have put a lot more emotion into it, so it wasn't TMI. You did great and Liam is so cute it was hard to go home, but I'm sure you were ready to be at your own house, with some space to be alone with your little guy. Love you lots. MOM
He is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see him in person! I am a bit worried, however, how you are going to carry him around. He's probably going to outweigh you before he starts preschool! I hope you are feeling great and recovering quickly. Enjoy every minute. It goes by way too fast! Congratulations to all of you.
