Carlsbad, NM

Well, we finally made up our minds. Thomas accepted a job in Carlsbad, New Mexico. It's famous for the Carlsbad Caverns, the Living Desert National Park, and the Christmas lights on the Pecos River. I read about the Christmas lights in an article. Apparently, they are one of the top ten things to do in the Southwestern United States, so come see us! Tom will be working in the Carlsbad Physical Therapy clinic. It is a private practice outpatient clinic. It's a great clinic, and we like all the people he will be working with. Although it is really hard to say good-bye to family and friends again, we think this is a great opportunity for us and we know that we will meet a lot of new wonderful people. We are also looking forward to vacationing in Utah, and probably Michigan as well! We will also be able to get a comfortable home, in a great area.
I'm not sure many people know what Carlsbad looks like, sooo...

This is how most of the neighborhoods look.

There is lots to do on the river. Playgrounds line the river on both sides, you can go water skiing, rent wave runners, and even...

go swimming. This section is called Beach Park. I can't wait to try it out.

I just wish the ducks were a little more afraid of people. They were at my feet quacking before I was all the way out of the car.

Hope you all come to see us. Especially during the cold winter months!

Congratulations on the job offer! I'm excited for you guys, but also kind of sad, because we're going to have to coordinate our trips to Utah to see each other. When do you move? You'll have to keep me updated... Good luck!!

Sounds like a fun place to live, and at least you're still within a days driving distance from home.

It actually looks really pretty, not like I imagined that corner of the state to look at all. I have always heard of Carlsbad caverns. I must have had a book about it when I was a child. I may just have to come see them!!

Okay. I know this is random. My name is Elise, your "Carlsbad, NM" post caught my eye from my friend Brianna's blog. Let me just say, that you are moving to my favorite place in the world. The two wards there are simply incredible, and it sounds like you'll be working with one of the greatest people ever (Tory Smith). We still have a house there and plan on moving back as soon as my husband is done with his Masters. If you have any questions, you can email me at eliseneville (at) gmail (dot) com. I know this is random, but I can't tell you how excited I am for you! You are so lucky!!
