2 month checkup

For those of you who are interested we went to the doctor today.
Liam is 23 3/4 inches long and weighs 12 pounds. He is in the 75th percentile for height and the 50 percentile for weight.
Vaccines are the WORST. Liam got his today, he cried (screamed is more appropriate) for about 20 seconds and then calmed down he is now playing with his hands. I am still recovering, and think that I need to hold him for the rest of the day. I'm glad we don't need more for a couple of months!!!

I hate shots--that look they get when the needle goes in--the "why are you letting them do this to me mom?" look--is the worst. I agree--I am more traumatized by the experience than Jack is.

Two suggestions. First, make sure you aren't holding them when they give the shots, so you can comfort and they don't think you are the cause. Let them associate the shots with the nurse. Second, I always just imagined how much worse the disease would be--to watch them suffer with something like small pox. That said, it is aweful. Give him a hug for Grandma.

Awful, not aweful. Oops, I love reading what I wrote and see spelling errors.

Ginny got really sick with her two month shots - she had a high fever for two days - it sucked.

Oh I hate shots. I feel sick to my stomach watching them cry out in pain. Sounds like he's a healthy little guy.

I hate those newborn shots! I've found what helps is to give them Tylenol 30 minutes before the shots. I did that the 2nd time, and it made a world of difference!

We've got a big shot day coming up in November; ALL three of the kids are due. I'm going to take the day off work so we can try to do something fun afterward. We'll have to try the tylenol suggestion.

I hate to say it, but you'd think you'd be immune after taking three kids in--it doesn't get easier. Ruthie just got five shots at her check-up. So sad! I love Liam's hair. He looks just like you did, Linds!
Love,
Emmers
